Celebrating 100 Years of Serving You

In 2019 Elliott Insurance Services celebrated 100 years in business. Thank you to all of our loyal clients and all of your support. Elliott Insurance Services has remained in the Elliott family for 4 generations and over the past 100 years we have been dedicated to providing the best service to our customers. Throughout this past decade, the business has seen the effects of 2 World Wars, recessions, and 20 different Prime Ministers of Canada. We could not have achieved this milestone without our loyal clients or the hard work and dedication of every employee to grace our offices over the past 100 years.

In 2019 we decided with the help of our loyal supporters that every week we would choose a deserving charity to donate $100 towards. Thanks to all of the #Elliott100 donation suggestions throughout 2019, we built up quite a list of very worthy local charities! With your help, we were able to donate to 52 charities throughout the year, but we weren’t able to support all the good suggestions, so we decided we’ll keep going into 2020!

We have a few suggestions left, but if we’re going to keep going, we need your help! Feel free to contact us by phone, email or come in and visit us at one of our two locations. We look forward to working with you and helping more local charities in 2020.

The Future

Elliott Insurance hasn't been around for 100 years due to luck. We have been continually growing with the growing world and we don't intend to stop now that we have hit this large milestone. We will continue to develop not only Elliott Insurance Services, but also our sister company InsureMyTools.ca.

As always, the future is uncertain and no one can perfectly predict how it will turn out. The one thing we do know is that we will always strive to be the best brokerage we can for our clients and their families. From our family business to your family, we will be there for you and your grandchildren for what will hopefully be another 100 years to come.

The History

Elliott Insurance Services was first established in 1919 by a local entrepreneur John Ashley Richard Elliott. J.A.R. Elliott started the insurance business in a small office at 7 Queen Street in Port Hope, Ontario. Our main office has been located in Port Hope ever since and is deeply rooted within the community.

Mr. Elliott's son Ross W. Elliott returned home from the Second World War and began working in the Port Hope area. Upon the passing of J.A.R. Elliott in 1948, Ross purchased Elliott Insurance Services, becoming the second generation to operate the thriving local business.

After owning the business for 30 years, Ross Elliott decided it was time to retire in 1978. His son Peter and his wife Diane Elliott purchased the business in 1978 and became the third generation to operate Elliott Insurance Services. The business quickly exceeded their expectations and by 1981, they purchased a larger office at 27 Queen Street to accommodate their growing staff and customers. The business was quickly spreading across Ontario and the customer service oriented brokerage was becoming a success with its customers.

In 2005 Peter Elliott began thinking about retirement. His son David Elliott was interested in the challenge of running the family business and left his job to ensure the brokerage stayed within the family. In 2010 David became the 4th generation to operate Elliott Insurance Services. With a new generation running the business, it began to grow again with a dedication toward taking the insurance brokerage into the new digital age while still maintaining its lifelong dedication to being a customer oriented company.

Through the years we have been honoured to insure many generations of families from great grandparents to great grandchildren. You have watched us grow as we have watched your family grow and we look forward to continuing to grow together in the future.
